My Washer is FLOODING! http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/why-is-my-washer-flooding/ http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/why-is-my-washer-flooding/#respond Wed, 01 Mar 2017 10:24:00 +0000 http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/?p=575 Continued]]> Flooding and also over-sudsing problems occur for several reasons. Soft water requires less detergent than hard water.
Also, be sure to take precautionary measures when possible in order, to prolong the life of your washer. For instance, if you pre-treat your clothes, you will need less detergent to get them clean on average. Many times the pre-treatment can add to sudsing in the washer. If you use an oxygenated bleach, this can contribute to over-soaping as well over time. Adjust detergent levels accordingly for hard or soft water, load size, water temperature, and amounts and types of soils on clothing. Sheets, bed linens, thick covers and towels should always be set to a heavy load and not overfilled.

If you want to get rid of excessive suds, advance the timer to the final spin cycle, and then re-wash the clothing without adding detergent to it. Repeat as necessary until the wash and rinse water is clear.

And remember, there’s no substitute for just keeping an eye on it and turning it off!! After that- Give us a call! A-1 is the best and we are Houston’s washer repair experts!

Please Work Icemaker, Please! http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/why-my-icemaker-or-water-dispenser-get-water-to-it/ http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/why-my-icemaker-or-water-dispenser-get-water-to-it/#respond Wed, 01 Mar 2017 10:22:52 +0000 http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/?p=572 Continued]]> Below are a few tips and quick fixes for those handy around the house as well as simple mechanics. However, if these methods fail… its best to call the appliance repair pro’s in Houston. A-1 !!!

Step 1: Many NEW refrigerators or NEWER refrigerators sometimes have simple installation problems. Make sure the freezer has cooled down enough after installation. If the doors had to be removed to install the refrigerator, make sure the wiring harness has been properly reattached. If the filter is plugged with sediment, you may not get any water either. Ice makers need about 40 psi to fill properly. Make sure the water supply valve is turned on to the unit. This valve is usually located under the kitchen sink and has a 1/4 inch copper line running from it to the refrigerator. Turn it counter-clockwise to make sure the valve is completely open. Check that the plastic fill tube hasn’t come out of the back of the refrigerator. Occasionally, this fill tube may freeze. The way to check on the tube is to remove the ice maker and then look at the fill tube. If it is frozen, you will probably need to replace the water fill valve. Double check and verify that the icemaker is plugged in and turned on. The wire arm will be in the down position if it is on.

If there is water to the icemaker but not to the water dispenser, check the dispenser tank. If it is frozen, you can turn the thermostat up to increase the air circulation in the refrigerator. This ought to help thaw the tank.

Remember, if this does not and all else fails- call one of our appliance repair pro’s in Houston. A-1 is available for same day appointments.

My Oven Temperature is RUINING My Life http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/same-day-appliance-repair-houston/ http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/same-day-appliance-repair-houston/#respond Tue, 21 Feb 2017 06:45:46 +0000 http://expertappliancerepairhuston.com/?p=1 Continued]]> The oven is a vital part of life especially for any fellow foodies out there! Having an oven that heats up slowly or one that overheats is an oven that will consistently ruin foods, appetites and potential art cuisine too!
Below are a few easy tricks of the trade but remember- if all else fails. Call one of our appliance repair pro’s at A-1. We will be able to do same day oven repair anywhere in Houston!

Your oven thermostat is preset at the factory. Many models will allow you to adjust the thermostat. Over time, it is possible for your thermostat to lose its calibration. This is a common problem for older models.

Also, you may be able to adjust your oven thermostat using a small screwdriver. The adjusting screw is located on the thermostat valve stem. Try removing the knob and you’ll see the screw underneath it. You want to turn the oven on and run it through at least two cycles while watching a calibrating thermometer in the oven for high and low temperatures. Adjust the screw as necessary to fine tune the temperature. Be sure to pay close attention.

Note that some ranges have a calibration plate or ring instead of a screw. The ring is located on the back side of the thermostat knob and is sometimes large. Refer to your owner’s manual for your product if you want to calibrate your thermostat using that method. It may also be available online.

And remember, if all else fails- give the repair pro’s a call! We available for same day repair work anywhere in Houston!
